About Us

Prime Stock Theatre Co. Society is a professional live theatre society based in Red Deer and serving the central Alberta region. We strive to work in concert with local and regional educational institutions and other cultural organizations in providing quality theatrical experiences. We want graduates of local high school drama departments and the Red Deer College performance and live production programs to have work available to them in this city- and not all have to continually move to larger cities to pursue them. Prime Stock employs primarily Alberta artists, and the development of new works by Alberta Playwrights is also an encouraged program goal.

Prime Stock is committed to ensuring that Red Deer is not just a city that has and supports live theatre- but is a destination that people throughout central Alberta will look forward to attending and contributing to performances of a professional caliber regularly with their friends and family.

Our objectives are to fulfill our mandated promise to our community by providing leadership in theatre arts through responsible management and thoughtful programming. We look to establish an alternative arts experience in a warm, casual atmosphere which encourages participation- from patrons and practitioners alike. Prime Stock has operated in 18 different venues across Red Deer since our inception in 1994, and continues to produce in a variety of non-traditional performance spaces dependent upon the needs of the production.
