Prime Stock Theatre Company

Since 1994, Prime Stock Theatre has been creating professional theatre in Red Deer and central Alberta. We have operated out of virtually every theatre space that central Alberta has to offer. We have employed hundreds of artists from around the world over the years, and continue to foster professional theatre to this day.

Beginning in 2010, Prime Stock Theatre has been producing the Bard on Bower Festival at Red Deer's beautiful Bower Ponds. Each summer, hundreds of people from central Alberta and beyond, take in our productions of Shakespeare's best works, presented by professional actors and technicians. For Bard 2026, we will head to the Snell Auditorium in the Red Deer Public Library to present Bard at the Snell: The Lady Doth Protest!, a collection of soliloquies, sonnets, and scenes currated by a team comprised of women, and other marginalized genders. This production will be presented July 11-12 and 25-26 at 11:00 and 1:00.

During the year we produce new works created in central Alberta, powered by the play development and dramaturgy of the Red Deer Players Society. For our 2026/27 Theatre Season, we will present two production:

  • The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes: A Study in Scarlet by Red Deer born playwright, Albertus Koett in November 2026 at the Scott Block Theatre
  • A play from Red Deer Players Society's Breaking Cover series in May 2027 at the Scott Block Theatre

To get involved in any of our productions, please send us an email at info@primestocktheatre.com
